Credit Impaired Borrowers
Most Australians are not taught, until it is too late, just how vitally important it is to maintain a strong and 'clean' credit rating.
In the modern era many things can occur to affect your credit rating. Some may have been within your control. Many others, such as illness, accidents, unemployment, business failure, or marital separation may have been partly, or totally, beyond your control.
For some people, seemingly minor occurrences - such as a disagreement with a telephone company over mobile call charges leading to a subsequent refusal to pay the phone bill - can actually have a significant impact on your ability to obtain a home loan or business finance. As a general rule just one such an event can impact your credit rating for up to 5 years - even if you subsequently make full payment.
Unfortunately many lenders, especially banks, are very quick to deny good people credit on the basis of one unfortunate event or a few minor lapses of judgement.
The good news is that there are a number of more flexible lenders who are willing to look at each case on its merits and actually listen to the "story" behind your credit report, rather than just see a negative listing as the end of the line.
Obviously, lenders who are willing to review the situation of credit impaired borrowers still need to make prudent decisions. At Find My Loan we pride ourselves on having a very good knowledge of those lenders who are flexible in their approach - but are still very competent and credible.
As lending to credit impaired borrowers carries the notion of "rate for risk" it is absolutely critical that each application is structured by a skilled finance consultant who can ethically present your case in the best light and negotiate the best possible outcome for you.
So, if you thought you were unable to obtain finance - that's quite possibly not the case.
